Zonta says NO to violence

The Zonta Club of Canberra Breakfast invites you to attend our Peace Bell event in remembrance, we ring the Nara Peace Bell once for each woman who has died through domestic violence over the last 12 months. Each year Zonta International holds a world-wide campaign Zonta Says No to Violence Against Women. The 16-day campaign is linked to the United National Goal No. 5 – Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. The campaign begins on November 25th – The United Nations Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and finishes on the December 10th is the United Nations International Human Rights Day.

An Evening With the Stars

Come along and meet Zonta’s Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics Scholarship winner – Karlie Noon, a Gamilaroi woman and astrophysicist with over a decade of experience in science.

Karlie will  be speaking about her co-authored book – Astronomy Sky Country and is currently undertaking a PhD in astrophysics.
You will also have a chance to look through the telescopes at Mt Stromlo.

Join us at the Visitors Centre at 6.15 pm to enjoy an evening of star gazing.

The ticket price includes a light supper.

Pre Loved Fashion Sale (PLFS)

This event is ZCCB’s major annual Fundraising Event
and is well established on the local Canberra calendar.
Generally held in March or April with 2 sessions.
Quality Designer clothing is donated throughout the year and carefully curated for this event.

Friday Evening – VIP Event
This is a ticketed session with drinks and canapes.
Attendees are given first viewing and opportunity to purchase at the Pre Loved Fashion Sale.

Saturday  – General Admission

Birthing Kit Packing Day

Volunteers join members of the ZCCB to assemble Birthing Kits which are distributed world wide.
We generally assemble between 3000 and 5000 Birthing Kits.
This is a fun day to unite with friends and have a chat whilst assembling the kits.

16 Days of Activism

Annual Event commencing November 25th – International Day of the Elimination of Violence against Women, through to December 10, International Day of Human Rights.

Nara Peace Bell Cermony

Held annually on December 10, in commemoration of the women who have been killed in Australia. In this simple and moving ceremony, the bell is rung once for each woman who has died.

Movie FundRaisers

Throughout the year we will hold Movie Fundraisers when appropriate films are available. These are generally hosted at the Palace Cinema in New Acton and are announced on our Facebook page and through the Friends of ZCCB Mailing List
